Officers from the Missouri City Police Department said at last night’s association annual meeting that there has been a slight uptick in burglaries in our area, in both homes and vehicles, this summer. Officers stated that this is a combination of teens being out of school for the summer and this being a crime of opportunity, with vehicles being left unlocked or valuables being left in plain sight.
Missouri City Police have recently arrested several juveniles for some of these crimes, but it is not known if others are still at large. Patrols have been increased in Olympia Estates, Vicksburg, and Lakeshore Harbour.
Officers offered this handout with tips on reporting suspicious activity and recommended signing up for the city’s free house watch program when traveling out of town.
